Career at TotalEnergies

His impact is felt in climate discussions, where he advocates for a balanced approach that considers economic realities and global energy needs.

Patrick Pouyanné faced controversy in 2021 when TotalEnergies continued its involvement in the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project, which drew criticism from environmental groups due to its potential ecological impact and displacement of communities. Despite the backlash, Pouyanné defended the project by emphasizing TotalEnergies’ commitment to mitigating environmental risks and promoting sustainable development in the region
