Dufourcq is a French businessman born in Paris, France in 1963. He has been the head of nine different companies, and he currently holds the position of CEO of Bpifrance, the public investment bank also known as Banque publique d’investissement.
Education:
Dufourcq graduated from HEC Paris in 1984, one of France’s most prestigious business schools. He then continued his studies at ENA where he graduated in 1988.
Career:
Nicolas Georges Norbert Dufourcq, commonly known as Nicolas Dufourcq began his career at the Ministry of Economy and Finance in 1988 after graduating from ENA. He then joined the French Ministry of Health and Social Affairs in 1992. He then joined France Telecom in 1994.
In 1998, Dufourcq created Wanadoo, a subsidiary of France Telecom. Between 1998 and 2003, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Wanadoo and the Executive Director of France Telecom in charge of the internet, cable, and pay TV. Wanadoo was listed at €20 billion in 2000.
In 2003 he left France Telecom and joined Capgemini where he initially managed the Central and Southern Europe region. In 2004 he was appointed as the Group Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Executive Committee. In 2005, he became the Deputy Managing Director in charge of finance, information systems, risk management, and delivery and purchasing. There he began the recovery of the group and the restructuring of its central functions, mainly addressing the redesign of its global information systems. From 2007 up until he left Capgemini in 2013, he also monitored the groups’ major accounts.
Dufourcq joined Bpifrance in early 2013 and has been the Chief Executive Officer ever since. He also serves as Chief Executive Officer of Bpifrance Investissement S.A.S, Chief Executive Officer of Bpifrance Assurance Export S.A.S.; Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bpifrance Participations S.A., Vice Chairman of the supervisory board of STMicroelectronics N.V. and is a member of the supervisory committee of Doctolib S.A.S.
Anecdotes
Nicolas Dufourcq, an ardent mountain climber, had completed a month-long excursion in the Himalayas. He also collects violins for himself and other musicians and enjoys classical and most especially electronic music. Dufourcq was nominated as the “Financial Director of the Year” by Hudson Consulting in 2007. He was also declared a Knight of the Legion of Honor in July 2015.
