Qualifications
Pierre Pringuet attended the Parisian schools of Carnot and Louis-le-Grand. In 1969 he enrolled in the Ecole Polytechnique. He continued he education at the Ecole des Mines, graduating with an engineering degree in 1975.
Career
Pierre Pringuet began his career in the French public service. From 1976 to 1978 he worked in the Lorraine region as a Project Manager within the Department for Industry and Mining. From 1979 to 1981 he was the Special Advisor to the Department’s Director General, with specific responsibility for financial procedures and social relations. From 1981 to 1985 he worked at the Ministry of Agricultural, as Technical Advisor to the Minister Michel Rocard. From 1985 to 1987 he served as the Director of Food and Agricultural Industries at the same Ministry.
Pierre Pringuet left public service in 1987 to take up his new role as Director of Development with the Pernod Ricard group of companies. In 1989 he was promoted to the position of CEO for the export of major brands. He held this position until 1996 when he was again promoted to be the CEO of Pernod Ricard (Europe). In 2004 he became a member of the Board of Directors of Pernod Ricard. In 2005, he had overall responsibility for the process that led to successful acquisition by Pernod Ricard of the Allied Domecq Corporation. In 2008 the Board appointed him as the CEO of Pernod Ricard.

Pierre Pringuet was born in Paris on the 31st January 1950. His parents were both doctors. He is married and has two daughters. He continues to live and work in Paris. His main interests outside work are classical music and contemporary art. He also enjoys skiing, golf and visiting the opera. He has received official recognition from the Government of France and awarded with the National Order of Merit and the Order of Agricultural Merit. He is also a Knight of the Legion of Honor.
