Alain Pourcelot has had a varied career. He has worked in industries ranging from F&B, casinos, clothing and footwear, and hospitality. He is the first leader of optics company Afflelou that has been recruited from outside of the group in the company’s 50 year history.
Training:
Pourcelot is a graduate of the Ecole Supérieure De Commerce et de Management (ESCEM) located in Tours.
Career:
After graduating, Pourcelot began his career working for alcoholic beverage company Pernod Ricard. He would move from there to join the Casino and Club Méditerranée where he was responsible for developing the marketing division at the global level. Pourcelot continued in hospitality after this, moving to Accor.
In 2005 Pourcelot left Accor and changed tack, moving industries and joining Adidas where he took over as the Head of Western Europe. It would be another 14 years before Pourcelot would move companies again. At Adidas he progressed to European Retail Director for e-commerce and franchise stores, then General Manager of France, and in 2017 he was promoted to General Manager of Europe.
Nonetheless, in 2019 he was recruited by French optics and acoustics giant Afflelou, as Chairman and CEO.
Anecdotes
In his youth, Alain Pourcelot was a member of the French National Swimming Team, and he remains an avid athlete today.
